Welcome to World Music Forever! A 2005 trip to the Caribbean sparked an interest in world music. The steel drums, reggae, calypso and soca that make up Caribbean music impressed my wife and I. We bought a bunch of cd's from the local music stores - especially Parrot Fish Music in St. Thomas. The tropical Caribbean music we bought as souvenirs was even more fun to listen to at home! That interest expanded to Brazilian and Latin music. Its not just the music - a good world music cd will have a booklet with information on the evolution of the music as well as information on the bands featured. There are two world music labels, Putumayo and Luaka Bop, which have released some of the best world music compilations.
This site doesn't attempt to cover everything and I'll leave it to others to provide news and festival information. These are my reviews from my collection. If I don't like a cd, I don't keep it. That's why you won't find any negative reviews. I may not like a song or two and may have comments on the cd artwork and booklet, but these are comments from a fan. I hope World Music Forever helps you build your world music collection!
